Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) Applicants Have Additional Time to Get the Golden State Stimulus
In 2021 the State of California launched their own stimulus program — the Golden State Stimulus. These payments were available to those with a Social Security Number or an Individual Identification Number (ITIN) and made less than $150,000. Over four million people received payments between $600 – $1200.
The deadline to capture the Golden State Stimulus was October 15, 2021. But unfortunately major delays at the IRS meant that those that were awaiting their ITIN application confirmation were unable to make that deadline.
The good news is there is an extension available to those who filed their taxes by October 15, 2021 and were still waiting on their ITIN application. ITIN applicants have until February 15, 2022 for their ITIN status to go through.
